Finance Minister Sitharaman Among Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Biocon executive chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar have found place in Forbes list of 100 most powerful women in the world. A total of six Indian women have made it to this annual list.

Sitharaman ranked 36th this time and has made it to the list for the fourth time in a row. Earlier in 2021, she was at 37th position. She was 41st in 2020 and 34th in 2019.

These Indian names are included in the list

According to this list released by Forbes on Tuesday, Mazumdar-Shaw is at 72nd position this year, while Nair is at 89th position. Other Indians in the list include HCL Tech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra (53rd), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch (54th) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Chairperson Soma Mondal (67tlocation) are included. Apart from these names in this list of Forbes, it includes 11 billionaires, whose total assets are $ 115 billion. The Forbes list says of Nair that the 59-year-old businessman worked as an investment banker for two decades, spearheading IPOs and helping other entrepreneurs achieve their dreams.

According to the Forbes website, 41-year-old Malhotra plays a key role in all strategic decisions of HCL Tech. In this way, Buch is the first woman chairman of SEBI. Similarly, Mandal is the first woman to head SAIL and since she took over, the company has achieved record financial growth. According to the Forbes website, in the first year of his tenure, the company’s profit tripled to Rs 120 billion.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has topped the list of the world’s 100 most powerful women in forbes’ World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list. She got this position for her leadership during the Ukraine war and her efforts to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde has been placed at the second position, while US Vice President Kamala Harris is at the third position in the list. Iran’s Zina “Mahsa” Amini has been posthumously ranked 100th on the influential list.
