Fog Update

Fog Update: Over the past few weeks, the pleasant chill that had been blanketing the Indo-Gangetic plains has changed to a severe chill, with biting cold and thick fog blanketing the area. Residents of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh now have to take extra precautions when going outside due to the chilly weather and poor visibility.

In a long-range monthly prediction released earlier this week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that during the whole month of January 2023, temperatures will likely remain below average in several regions of northwest India. As per the latest update by IMD, the mornings will now be more clear while intense fog will continue in nights.

Delhi

During the night, the national capital is predicted to witness a visibility dip of up to 50M. However, while in the morning today, the visibility will be 800M from the early hours as well. Though, natives still need to follow precautions as the cold wave will continue to remain intense.

Lucknow

Similar to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow will be clearer during the day or specifically morning, in comparison to nights. The night visibility is, however, predicted to be on the lower end as it will reportedly reach 100 metres.

Jaipur

After a few days of fog, IMD has now predicted that Rajasthan's capital will be free from fog once again. Though, it missed the chance of being fog-free the entire season, the city will still be cold as the minimum temperature will be just four degrees.

Amritsar

The visibility during the early morning hours will be just 50 metres, making it dense fog round the city. However, during the office hours, the visibility will turn to 400 metres. The daytime will be clearer in comparison to nights.
