Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar slams West for ‘God-given right’ to comment on others

S Jaishankar: Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated on Sunday that the West has a “bad habit” of commenting on others and believes it has a “God-given right” to talk on other countries’ internal affairs. During a ‘Meet and Greet’ session arranged by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan, Jaishankar was responding to a query about Germany and the United States’ comments on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Parliament.

Indians invite the rest of the world to weigh in on their problem

“There are two explanations for this. It is because the West has always had a poor habit of criticising on others. “They think it’s some kind of God-given right,” Jaishankar remarked, according to news agency PTI. “They will only learn through experience that if you continue to do this, other people will start commenting, and they will not like it when it happens.” That’s what I’m seeing,” he added. He also stated that Indians invite the rest of the world to weigh in on their problem. “The second half of the truth is that you are encouraging people to comment on you in our arguments. Then an increasing number of people are tempted to comment. We must also cease extending open invitations to the globe, saying, “There are difficulties in India; America and Europe, why are you standing by and doing nothing?” “They are part of the problem, and we are part of the problem.” And I believe both are in need of repair,” he added.

Freebie culture as a means to gain instant popularity

Surya and Mohan, MPs from Bengaluru South and Central, were present throughout the interaction. When asked about freebie culture, Jaishankar remarked that some people in Delhi were masters of it. “They’re doing it because they don’t have to worry about raising resources,” he explained. “Freebies cannot be used to manage a country. Someone has to pay for it somewhere. Everyone who gives something away here is taking something away somewhere “He stated. He described freebie culture as a means to gain instant popularity in an irresponsible manner that was not sustainable.
