Multiple waggons of two goods train collided on Sunday about 4 a.m. after colliding with each other near Bankura in West Bengal.
At the Onda station, this event occurred when one of the goods trains collided with the other from behind, causing 12 of the goods trains' waggons to derrail.
There were no confirmed fatalities, however the driver of one of the freight trains suffered some minor wounds as a result of the collision.
Based on what the railway officials have said, “Both were empty goods trains and the reason for the accident and how both trains collided is still not clear. The train services in Adra division have been affected by this accident. ADRA Division serves four districts of West Bengal, viz. West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia and Burdwan and three districts of Jharkhand viz Dhanbad, Bokaro and Singhbhum, and it comes under the south-eastern Railway.”
Few trains, including the Purulia Express, will likely depart from the same stretch, therefore rail authorities are attempting to rapidly clear the upline.
Just one month prior, the Coromandel Express and two other trains were engaged in a terrible triple railway accident in Odisha that left at least 275 people dead.
