Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday chaired a meeting with the chief ministers of Congress-ruled states over the issue of increasing covid-19 cases across the country.

In a virtual meeting with the chief ministers of all the states, the Congress leader said that their should must be transparency in reporting and calculating daily covid-19 cases, while adding that the priority should be to test, track and vaccinate.

She also reviewed the efforts to fight covid-19, including the availability of vaccines, access to medicines and ventilators in the states Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.

“What are our states doing to ensure availability of oxygen, ventilators and other facilities as the pandemic grows?” she asked while inquiring about the availability of the vaccines, oxygen ventilators and other facilities in the Congress-led states.

She further said that all public gatherings and poll rallies should be canelled as the number of covid-19 cases is on the rise and asked the chief minisers if the economic packages announced by the Centre made up for the losses caused by the pandemic.

"Mass gatherings for elections and religious events have accelerated covid for which all of us are responsible to some extent. We need to accept this responsibility and keep the interest of the nation above our own," she said.

Sonia's meeting comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's letter to PM Modi wherein he had asked vaccination available for all adults.
