Haryana Assembly: BJP-JJP govt defeats Congress’ no-confidence motion

Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP-JJP alliance government in Haryana has defeated the no-confidence motion against them by the opposition in the assembly.

In total 55 MLAs voted against the motion while 32 others voted in favour of no-confidence.

Gian Chand Gupta, the assembly speaker who had earlier accepted the motion by the Opposition Congress on March 5 had called for a discussion and vote count on March 10.

The BJP has 40 seats in a total of 90-member seats whereas Congress has 31 seats in total while JJP has 10 and 5 are independent and two are vacant. So, on a majority, BJP-JJP has more numbers and they are at the top with the power.

“No-confidence is an old culture of Congress. They express ‘no confidence’ very easily. Everybody knows about their ‘no confidence’ with each other within Congress. When you lose an election, you express no confidence in EVM. Evidence was sought when the surgical strike took place,” the CM said.

The motion was raised after the state-wide protest against the Centre’s 3-Farm Laws and the protest has been over 105 days. Thousands of farmers especially from Punjab and Haryana have flouted the Delhi borders and the protest has become the center of discussion in the last few months.
