Himachal: BJP MLA Narinder Bragta passes away due to post-Covid complications

Himachal Pradesh BJP MLA Narinder Bragta passed away on Saturday morning due to post-covid related complications. He was hospitalised for 15-days in PGI Chandigarh after testing positive for the virus on April 13. He was 69.

His demise was confirmed by his son Chetan Bragta who took to Facebook to urge everyone to pray for his soul and asked for co-operation amid Covid-19 complications.

On Friday, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur visited the hospital to enquire about his health. The CM today morning took to twitter to pay condolences and wished strength for the family.

“May God accepts the decedent soul of Mr Bragta and gives strength to his bereaved family to face this loss with strength. Om Shanti,” he tweeted in Hindi.

Bragta was appointed as the Minister of State for Horticulture from 1998-2002 and Horticulture, Technical Education and Health Minister from 2007 to 2012.He was re-elected in December 2017 from Jubbal-Kotkhai in Shimla district.

He is also credited for installing anti-hail guns in the apple growing areas in Shimla district in 2010 under a Rs 3.29 crore Central government-funded project to protect the crop from hailstorms during the flowering and fruit setting season.
