Holi 2023: The Ultimate Cleanup Guide! Removing Colours from Clothes, Hands and Bathroom Fixtures Made Easy

Holi 2023: There will be fun with colours and gulal if it is Holi. But occasionally, this entertainment makes our issues worse. Today, we’re going to share some tips for getting rid of colour so that your home will be clean and the Holi colours won’t disintegrate.

Situation First

The clothing’s colour has been permanently fixed?

  • Nail paint remover: Soak a cotton ball in nail paint remover and rub it on the stained area. After this wash the clothes.
  • Corn starch: Make a paste by mixing milk in corn starch. Apply it on the stained cloth and leave it for some time. After this, clean the cloth by rubbing it with a brush.
  • Lemon juice: Soak colored clothes in lemon juice for some time. After this, apply half a cup of lemon juice on the clothes and wash them with soap.
  • Curd: Soak the colored cloth in curd for some time. After this, rub the stain and wash it.
  • Baking soda: Baking soda can be used with bleach to remove color from light colored clothing.
  • Toothpaste: Apply non-gel toothpaste to the stained area on the colored cloth. After the toothpaste dries, wash the cloth with soap.
  • Alcohol: Put one or two drops of alcohol in the place where the color is applied, rub it and wash it. After this wash the cloth with detergent.

Situation Second

Holi color on highlighted hair

Solution: If the color of Holi is not coming out even after washing the hair with clean water and shampoo, then some home remedies can be adopted.

  • For this, heat sesame oil and mix egg white in it. Apply it like a paste on the hair. Shampoo after half an hour. After this, mix lemon in half a cup of rose water and wash your hair with it.
  • You can use home made hair cleanser. Soak dry reetha, amla and shikakai in about one liter of water overnight. The next day, cook on a low flame till the water is reduced to half. Sieve it and wash your hair with it when it cools down.

Playing with colour has caused the palms to turn entirely pink

Solution: Never use direct soap to remove color from hands. This can make the skin dry. First apply some oil or cream and do a light massage on the hands.

  • Mix turmeric, gram flour and oil in flour and make ubtan. It can be used to remove colour.
  • You can also apply a paste of multani mitti and rose water.
  • Do not rub hands excessively to remove the color. This will also lead to dryness and other skin related problems.
  • After removing the color, apply some oil or moisturizer on the hands.
  • To remove color from nails, take lemon juice in a bowl. Keep the nails soaked in it for a while, then clean it with a brush.

Avoid bathroom fixtures, tips

After celebrating Holi, the maximum color is seen in the bathroom. In such a situation, touch the fixtures ie tap, shower or towel hanger in the bathroom only by wearing plastic gloves.

  • Before using the bathroom, apply petroleum jelly or oil on the fixtures, so that the color can be easily removed later.
  • Use a bathtub after Holi to remove the colors and take a bath so that the bathroom floor and other fixtures are not damaged.
  • Throw dye-drenched clothing directly into the washing machine. You can wash them and use them for duster or mop.
