Homage to fallen soldiers of the CRPF on 3rd anniversary of Pulwama terror attack

The Indian Army and other security forces paid homage to the fallen soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on the third anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack.

Around 40 CRPF personnel were killed when a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their bus on February 14, three years ago in Pulwama.

Post the dastardly attack, tensions flared up between India and Pakistan. Prime Minister asserted that the security forces have been given permission to choose the timing, place and nature of their response to the Pulwama terror attack. India then launched a counter-terror airstrike against a JeM training camp. In the wee hours of February 26, 2019, the IAF jets bombed the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camps in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan and avenged the Pulwama terrorist attack.

“The songs of your bravery, don’t get lost in the raucous noise. We were so proud that we did not cry for a long time,” wrote CRPF.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, on Monday, paid homage to the CRPF jawans. “14th Feb, 2019! My heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. I also salute the family members of these martyrs,” Kher tweeted.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the fallen Pulwama braves deserve more than “ritual mourning”.

“Our #PulwamaShahid deserve more than ritual mourning. They deserve an accounting of what went wrong &why. Who was responsible for the gross errors that led to this tragedy. What we are doing to ensure that it never happens again. That would be a fitting way to honour their memory,” he wrote on Twitter.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Delhi chief minister also tweeted their tribute for the CRPF jawans, saying the nation will forever remain indebted to their supreme sacrifice.
