‘I could not save him’ exclaims Union Minister who lost his son to alcohol addiction

Alcoholism: Kaushal Kishore, the Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, has made a strong case against drunkenness and urged women to avoid being married to alcoholics. Kishore made the case that a rickshaw puller or labourer would make a better spouse than an alcoholic officer when speaking at a de-addiction programme in Lambhua. The minister based this assertion on his own personal experience, adding that he and his wife, an MLA, were unable to save their son’s life because of his alcoholism. After being admitted to a rehabilitation facility, Kishore’s son married after six months and began drinking again, which led to his terrible story of relapsing into addiction and eventual death.
