onse to ceasefire and airspace violations by Pakistan on the night of 10–11 May, the Indian Army has issued a clear directive: any breach of the understanding reached during the DGMO talks on May 10 will be met with decisive military action.
In an official statement, the Indian Army said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the overall security situation with Army Commanders deployed along the Western Borders. Following this assessment, the COAS granted full operational authority to commanders in the field to initiate counteraction in the kinetic domain if violations recur.
“The Chief of Army Staff has granted full authority to the Army Commanders for counteraction in the kinetic domain to any violation of the understanding reached vide the DGMO talks,” the Army’s official media handle @adgpi tweeted.
This directive comes amid heightened tension after Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed several Indian soldiers. The ceasefire announcement came days later, first from Washington D.C. and then jointly from India and Pakistan.
The Army's latest move reinforces India's resolve to respond firmly to any provocations, even during ceasefire periods, and signals zero tolerance for breaches of national security.
