Lachung Lachen Valley: 500 visitors who were their route to Lachung and the Lachen valley but became stranded at Chungthang due to landslides and roadblocks on the way were rescued by the Indian Army on Friday. In gen A Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang, severe downpours were observed. At the request of SDM Chungthang, Trishakti Corps soldiers of the Indian Army sprang into action and brought the trapped tourists to safety.
Tourist Diagnosed with Acute Mountain Sickness Receives Timely Care
Three medical teams were organised, and they examined each tourist. A woman who had been to Gurudogmar Lake during the day reported having a terrible headache and feeling extremely lightheaded. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms were found when a medical team, including a woman medical officer from a neighbouring field hospital, came to the scene. She received prompt medical attention and was sent to the medical hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU). She was in good shape by morning.

Stranded Tourists Find Shelter and Assistance in Army Camps
The forces’ swift intervention prevented any accidents and provided the stranded tourists with comfort. The road is currently being cleared in order to allow for vehicular traffic as soon as possible. Till the route is open for their continued travel, all support would be given to the tourists. 216 men, 113 women, and 54 children who were stranded tourists were relocated to three different Army camps where they received hot meals and warm clothing. To make room for the visitors for the night, the soldiers left their quarters.
