Indian Constitution Day 2025: Constitution Day 2025 sees India renewing its commitment to the values that are the foundation of the world’s largest democracy. November 26 each year is Constitution Day; this date celebrates when the Indian Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950, providing national recognition of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, which have provided the basis for India’s government and its identity.
The larger, more inclusive nature of the celebrations in 2025 reflects the deepened sense of civic responsibility demonstrated by the level of engagement from schools, colleges, the Government and Citizens throughout the country.
Programmes Celebrating Democracy Were Held Across the Country
Throughout India, Government Institutions hosted special events on Constitution Day 2025, including:
• Reading Ceremonies of the Preamble of the Constitution at Schools, Universities And Public Offices.
• Legal Awareness Workshops on the Rights of Citizens
• Digital Exhibitions Showcasing the Development of the Constitution
• Lectures by Lawyers and Academics on Constitutional Principles and Values
• Cultural Events Honouring Dr B.R. Ambedkar And The Framers of The Constitution
A strong emphasis in 2025 has been on creating greater opportunities for Young People to become involved in the Constitution. This year, representatives from all areas of the community engaged Young People through Session Discussions, Quizzes and Debates to Foster a Greater Understanding Of The Constitution.
Focus on Constitutional Values & Public Awareness
The theme for Constitution Day 2025 focuses on “Digital Empowerment, Democracy, and Dignity.” Technology will continue to play an increasingly important role in governance as a result of these programs being held this year. In connection to these programs, citizens will be encouraged to participate in the development of digital archives for the constitution and will have access to the contents of the archives to better understand the contents of the constitution.
Constitution Day 2025, President Droupadi Murmu’s Constitution Day 2025 schedule
As the constitutional leader of our country, President Droupadi Murmu will begin her day with a morning event at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This event will begin with the President reading the Preamble to the Constitution to students from selected schools, senior government officials and the President. This will reaffirm the values contained in the Preamble to the Constitution.
The second event of the day will be an address by the President at the National Constitution Day programme at Vigyan Bhawan, where the President will give a keynote address on democratic resilience, citizen participation, and the need to uphold the morals and ethics of our Constitution.
The third event is the launch of the Digital Constitutional Archives. This is a major highlight of Constitution Day 2025, as President Murmu will inaugurate the new Digital Constitutional Archives, allowing citizens to access rare constitutional documents digitally.
Fourthly, President Murmu will meet with two groups of students and scholars who have conducted research on the Constitution, and will engage them about how they can develop academic curiosity about the Constitution and how they can participate in civic engagement.
Lastly, President Murmu will attend a memorial to the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as part of the Evening Cultural Commemoration portion of the day.
The Evening Cultural Commemoration will feature the Music of India, and performances by Indian classical, folk, and modern artists will occur during this time period, to celebrate the rich heritage of India and the contributions made by the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to the improvement and prosperity of the Indian people.
