Indian Government Slams Jack Dorsey’s Accusations as “Outright Lie” in Twitter Controversy

Jack Dorsey: The Centre has reacted to Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, who claimed that the Indian government ‘pressured’ Twitter to ‘ban’ several accounts during the farmer protests. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Electronics & Technology, called the accusation a “outright le,” noting that “neither Twitter was shut down nor anyone went to jail.” Chandrasekhar added that the Dorsey administration at Twitter had trouble recognising the supremacy of Indian law.

Indian Government Exposes Twitter’s Ongoing Violations of Indian Law

The minister tweeted, “This is an outright lie by @jack – perhaps an attempt to brush out that very dubious period of twitter’s history.” He stated that Twitter has committed repeated and ongoing violations of Indian law, citing some “facts and truths” regarding the company. In actuality, they routinely broke the law between 2020 and 2022, and it wasn’t until June 2022 that they did so. Both Twitter’s “shutdown” and anyone’s imprisonment were avoided.

Minister Exposes Twitter’s Repeated Violations of Indian Law Under Jack Dorsey’s Leadership

Chandrashekhar Tweeted, ” This is an outright lie by @jack – perhaps an attempt to brush out that very dubious period of twitters history Facts and truth @twitter undr Dorsey n his team were in repeated n continuous violations of India law. As a matter of fact they were in non-compliance with law repeatedly from 2020 to 2022 and it was only June 2022 when they finally complied. No one went to jail nor was twitter “shutdown”. Dorseys Twitter regime had a problem accepting the sovereignty of Indian law. It behaved as if the laws of India did not apply to it.”
