Indian Railways unveils proposed design of revamped New Delhi Railway station

The New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) has been given a brand-new, absolutely stunning design by the Ministry of Railways as of this past Saturday. One of India’s oldest, busiest, and most recognisable railway stations is NDLS. The suggested plan portrays it as a top-notch facility with cutting-edge technology.

The New Delhi Railway Station’s planned design was made public by the Ministry of Railways on its on its Twitter handle today.

One of the biggest reconstruction projects for the national transportation company is the renovation of New Delhi Railway Station. The redevelopment plan, which may cost between Rs 4,700 and 4,800 crore, is reportedly being closely watched by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The railway station will reportedly have a six-story structure with two enormous trademark domes. Once finished, it will serve as New Delhi’s new landmark. A road network will connect it to nearby locations like Connaught Place and the Karnail Singh stadium, and it will also relieve congestion in the congested area surrounding Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

The twin-dome terminal building will cover all 16 platforms of New Delhi Railway Station and will be 80-metres high and 450-metres long. The station will also have a long high street of 650-metre along the state entry road which will be pedestrian-friendly. The most amazing thing is thay station will be integrated with Delhi Metro’s Yellow line and Airport Express Line via multi-modal transport hubs (MMTS) situated on both sides of the NDLS railway station. These multi-modal transport hubs will also be the hubs for local buses connecting NDLS to all parts of the NCR.

1,253 railway station has been identified by the Indian Railways in the country for development and so far 1,215 stations have been develped and the remaining stations under Adarsh Station Scheme are set to be developed by 2022-23.
