Internet suspended, large gathering banned; Rajasthan on alert after communal killing

The state of Rajasthan has been put on an alert, internet services have been suspended and large gatherings have been banned for a month after a Hindu tailor was murdered for supporting Nupur Sharma.

Kanhaiya Lal was stabbed and his throat was slit by two Muslim men who had come to his shop and killed him in broad daylight.

In a big development, Rajasthan police arrested two persons who had put out the video of their sinister crime.

Director General of Police, M.L. Lather, said that different teams were deployed to arrest both the culprit.

The arrested persons have been identified as Gos Mohammad, son Rafiq Mohammed, and Riaz, son of Abdul Jabbar, both residents of Surajpol area in Udaipur, Lathar said.

As a precautionary measure, the leave of all police personnel has been cancelled, Lathar added.

Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed in different parts of Udaipur while Section 144 has been implemented across the district.
