Jagdish Tytler appears before CBI to give his voice sample

In connection with a case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday, April 11 summoned former Congress MP Jagdish Tytler to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi to provide a voice sample.

According to CBI sources, Tytler appeared before the agency and was taken to CFSL to record his voice. When Tytler was previously questioned by the CBI regarding the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, he flatly denied having any involvement in the riots.

Tytler, however, asserted in a statement to reporters that the summons had nothing to do with the 1984 riot case.

“What have I done? If there’s evidence against me, then I’m prepared to hang myself… It wasn’t related to the 1984 riots case for which they wanted my voice (sample), but another case,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

In the meantime, the CBI gave clean chit to Tytler three times in the 1984 riots case, but the court ordered it to look into the matter more thoroughly in 2015. The court ruled that it would oversee the probe every two months to ensure that all relevant factors were looked at.
