Wood was used extensively in the construction of the mosque

Wood was used extensively in the construction of the mosque. So the fire spread rapidly and got out of control. By the time people could understand something, in no time the entire mosque was engulfed in flames. The good thing is that there was no loss of public property in this incident of burning of the mosque. Meanwhile, the Kargil police is trying to ascertain the cause of the fire in the mosque in Drass. It is also suspected that the fire may have started due to short circuit. But there is no official statement yet.

On the other hand, the people of Dras say that it was not possible to control the fire due to the absence of any fire service station there. They say that the fire station is in Kargil. From there the damage is done till the fire service vehicles reach. There is a demand of the people that the Ladakh administration should take action towards building a fire service station in Drass as well. Due to being a hilly area, girls are used more in the buildings here.

Therefore, there is a risk of more damage due to fire. That’s why it is very important to have a fire station.
