Jammu & Kashmir: EPFO Outreach Programme on July 2

The EPFO, J&K conducted an awareness programme on July 2 in collaboration with District Administration, Shopian. The topics discussed include the registration process and benefits of social security schemes and insurance schemes of EPFO for the welfare of contract, outsourced, and other part-time employees engaged by government departments and private organizations.

The programme was presided over by the Provident Fund Commissioner, Rizwan Uddin. The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Manzoor Hussain, who gave a brief about the conduct of the Awareness Programme, as well as welcoming the PF Commissioner.

The Commissioner elucidated the provisions of the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995 and the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976. He not only stressed the responsibility and importance of organisations in registering their employees but also explained the registration process of Principal Employers on the online portal of the EPFO.

He advised all the Departments to extend benefits of aforesaid Schemes to all contract and outsourced employees working directly or indirectly in various government departments.

The Commissioner also said that contractors engaged under different departments like RDD, R&B, etc., should be registered under EPF & MP Act, 1952 so that their social security is ensured and they are benefited financially. CEOs and CMOs should register all employees, whether the company is private or publicly owned.

He also recommended that departments conduct outreach programmes about the registration process of EPFO schemes in order to spread awareness, and so more people can benefit from them.

There are other pensions provided under the scheme as per eligibility of membership like superannuation, early pension, disability pension, orphan pension, widow pension and nominee pension.

The Commissioner expressed the need for further follow-up by District Administration and Associate Offices to increase Social Security in the district.
