Jammu and Kashmir: One terrorist was killed in a shootout with Army personnel in a major anti-terror operation near Trimukh Top in the Kowut area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. Conducted jointly by the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Indian Army, the operation also left one NCO injured.

The shootout occurred in the course of a search operation that had been conducted since a few days ago. Security forces deployed on the site reported some suspicious movement on Tuesday and rushed to investigate. The encounter with terrorists began early on Wednesday and subsequently resulted in the neutralization of one militant. The operation is still on as security forces maintain vigil in the region to ensure complete sanitization of the area from any remaining threats.

"On 24 July, suspicious movement was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, in response to which terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing fire fight one terrorist has been eliminated and a NCO injured. Operation is in progress ," the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army posted on X.
In another related incident, a soldier has been critically injured in an operation foiling an infiltration attempt along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Lance Naik Subhash Chander was engaged in a fierce exchange of gunfire with terrorists in the Battal area of KG Sector Mendhar Poonch. He was rushed to the nearby hospital, where Lance Naik Subhash Chander succumbed to his injuries later in the evening.
