In a significant move aimed at empowering the youth of India, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently revealed the party’s manifesto promises for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. Speaking at the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Rajasthan, Gandhi highlighted several key initiatives designed to address the needs and aspirations of young Indians.
Employment Guarantee
Congress pledges to create 30 lakh government jobs by filling vacant posts in the central government within a defined timeline. This initiative aims to provide ample employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
First Job Guarantee
Under the proposed Right to Apprenticeship law, every degree or diploma holder below 24 years will be entitled to apprenticeship training in either the government or private sector. This scheme ensures a stipend of ₹8,500 per month and ₹1 lakh per year for apprentices.
Eliminating Paper Leaks
Congress promises to enact legislation to prevent paper leaks in examinations. Any instance of paper leak will be met with strict legal action, ensuring fair and transparent examination processes.
Social Security for Gig Workers
The party plans to introduce new laws aimed at improving work conditions and providing social security for gig workers. Rahul Gandhi highlighted interactions with various workers, emphasizing the need for pension schemes and better protection for gig economy participants.
Youth Empowerment Fund
Congress proposes the establishment of a ₹5,000 crore national fund, distributed across each district, to serve as a startup fund for the youth. Individuals below 40 years of age will have access to this fund, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation at the grassroots level.
Rahul Gandhi criticized previous initiatives like Make in India and Startup India, arguing that they primarily benefited the affluent. He emphasized the need for inclusive policies that genuinely empower the youth and address their aspirations.
