Karwa Chauth 2022: From DDLJ to Baghbhan – Top 5 Bollywood movies that show the festival how you celebrate it

Karwa Chauth 2022: Karwa Chauth, a festival observed by Hindu women in north and west India in order to pray for the long lives of their husbands, is just round the corner. The festival is celebrated by much fathom and enthusiasm by every married women in India. A important part of Bollywood is, that it has a song and movie on every occasion.

1. Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge

Simran (Kajol) fasts in Aditya Chopra’s popular movie “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge” in honour of Raj, her boyfriend (Shah Rukh Khan). However, her marriage is fixed to Kuldeep, the son of a friend of her father, Amrish Puri and she has to keep a fast for him. During the Pooja, She pretends to be dizzy before taking the water from Kuldeep’s hands because she wants to break her fast by sipping the water her love has given her. Eventually, she breaks her fast with Raj.

King Khan and Kajol’s on-screen connection with the young people makes this sequence one of the movie’s most recognisable ones. Many young people still observe fasts with their significant others today, imitating Raj from DDLJ.

2. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

In “Chand Chupa Badal Mein,” Sanjay Leela Bhansali brilliantly portrayed the feelings of lovers. In a dream scenario, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character Nandini fasts for her boyfriend Sameer (Salman Khan). She fasts for her husband (Ajay Devgn) in a sequence that is separate from the song, even though she is not in love with him.

3. Baghban

With a plot that focused on the challenges of ageing parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini’s “Baghban” struck a chord with Indian audiences. The part where the husband and wife watch their children celebrate the festival from a distance was also very moving. Despite the viewers’ miles-long absence owing to circumstances, this scene hits their emotions as they break the fast.

4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Undoubtedly, no previous film had ever depicted the “Karva Chauth” festival in such a vivid way. The film opens with a happy tune before Nandini Chandran (Jaya Bachchan) speaks to Anjali Sharma Raichand (Kajol) about the significance of the festival. The movie also reveals that Kareena’s character Pooja fasted in love of Rohan Yashvardhan Raichand (Hrithik Roshan).

5. Ishq Vishk

Payal Mehra (Amrita Rao) fasts for her boyfriend Rajiv Mathur in the coming-of-age romantic comedy movie (Shahid Kapoor). Director Ken Ghosh has beautifully caught the scenes that include them.
