Kerala Govt extends curbs, eases restrictions

The Kerala government announced on Saturday to extend the statewide lockdown by a week that is n9 June to prevent the spread of Covid-19 epidemic. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced to increase the lockdown at a press conference here. The lockdown is in force from May 8 after a huge increase in the cases of corona virus in the state.

The Chief Minister also announced the removal of ‘triple lockdown’ in Malappuram district, where the number of cases is very high. However, normal lockdown will continue in other districts of the state including Malappuram. Earlier, the government had extended the statewide lockdown on 16 May and then on 23 May after reviewing the situation.

The total number of people who have recovered after the release of 26,270 more people in the state has increased to 22,24,405. With this, the number of cured people has exceeded the number of under-treated patients.

According to the Bulletin of the Health Department, a total of 1,36,068 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. According to the bulletin, the infection rate in the state is 16.4 percent. The number of patients undergoing treatment is 2,37,819 .
