Kerala Monsoon: Kerala will have to wait for a few more days to get a breather from the scorching heat as the Met Department notified about the delay by 2-3 days.It was earlier predicted the Monsoon will hit Kerala by June 4. According to the statement issued by the IMA, with the increase in Westerly winds over the South Arabian sea, the conditions are now looking suitable. The depth of Westerly winds is also increasing and yesterday it reached above the sea level. The cloud mass over the South East Arabian sea is also increasing gradually. The Met Department is monitoring the situation.

IMD: North West India will see normal to below normal rainfall


Monsoon arrived in the city on May 29 last year. The Met Department has not announced the date for the other states yet. Although they said that , North West India is expected to see normal to below normal rainfall. According to the IMD, rainfall between 96 and 104 percent of a 50 year average of 87 cm is considered normal. And rainfall less than 90 percent of the long period average is considered ‘deficient ‘. Between 90 percent and 95 percent is below ‘normal’.
