Kerala transgender couple blessed with baby

Ziya Paval and Zahhad, a transgender couple from Ummalathur in Kozhikode, welcomed a baby on Wednesday. The couple's friend used Facebook to first announce the birth of their child.

On social media, a lot of friends have already begun to share their affection and wishes.

"Zahhad and the baby are doing well. We don't care whether the child is male or female. We will support our child in case of sexual transformation in future. May the baby grow without caste and gender differences," said Ziya and thanked well-wishers and friends for their support.

By C-Section, Zahhad gave birth to the child on Wednesday at 9.37am in the Kozhikode Hospital. The baby is of 2.92 kg. The couple's pregnancy story gained attention after their recent maternity photograph went viral on social media.

The picture shoot questioned how society views the LGBTQ+ group and their right to start a family with children.

The couple decided to explore their options for natural conception because of the lengthy legal process associated with adoption. Ziya and Zahhad were attempting to have procedures to change their gender at the time. The breasts of Zahhad were surgically removed. Due to the ongoing gender transformation process, doctors confirmed after a physical examination that a natural pregnancy was possible, and two women wanted to become pregnant.
