Khalistan Activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar Fatally Shot in Canadian Gurdwara

Hardeep Singh Nijjar: On Monday, the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was fatally shot in Canada. Nijjar was fatally shot in the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in British Columbia’s Punjabi-heavy Surrey. He served as the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara’s president in Surrey. He was instrumental in setting up the Khalistan referendum in Brampton.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s Ties to Sikhs for Justice

Additionally, Nijjar had ties to the in India outlawed separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). For his alleged involvement in terrorist activities in Punjab, India had previously requested that the Canadian authorities take action against Nijjar. The Indian government had already designated Nijjar, a notorious individual associated with violent and subversive crimes, as a “wanted terrorist.” His name was just included on a list of 40 additional terrorists that the government had labelled.

NIA Offers Rs. 10 Lakh Reward for Capture of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a Rs. 10 lakh reward in 2022 for information that resulted in Nijjar’s capture. In Jalandhar, Punjab, he was accused of plotting the murder of a Hindu priest. Nijjar, who led the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), was accused of being involved in the plot. Nijjar, who was based in Canada, had been eluding law enforcement. His involvement in a case involving the planning and commission of terrorist actions against India had earlier led to the NIA filing a chargesheet against him.
