Live-Streaming Of CJI Ramana’s Bench On His Last Working Day

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana is retiring today. At the same time, the proceedings of the Ceremonial Bench of NV Ramana will be live streamed today from the Supreme Court on his last working day. With this, today the public can watch the proceedings of the CJI’s bench in the Supreme Court live. For the first time after the 2018 verdict, live-streaming is happening in the Supreme Court.

Ramana will share the bench with the next CJI today

There will be live streaming of Chief Justice NV Ramana’s ceremonial bench ( the bench in which he will sit with the next Chief Justice U Lalit and some senior lawyers will say a few things in his honor on his departure).

This is the tradition of the Supreme Court since its inception. In this, due to the crowd of lawyers in the court, even journalists are often unable to enter. It will be live streaming for the first time.

SC’s computer cell issued notice and informed about livestream

A notice issued by the Computer Cell of the Supreme Court said, “Please note that the proceedings of the Court of Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, that is Ceremony Bench will be livestreamed through webcast portal of NIC from 26th August, 2022, 10:30 AM onwards.”

“I hope that I stood up to the expectation which you expected from me. I discharged my duties as Chief Justice in whatever possible way. I have taken up two issues, all of you know, the infrastructure and the appointment of judges. Thanks to the support given by my brother and sister judges in Supreme Court and Collegium, we successfully appointed almost 224 judges in high courts,” shared the outgoing CJI while speaking at an event organised by the Delhi High Court Bar Association to bid him farewell.

Speaking on the appointment of Delhi High Court judges, Justice Ramana -– who acted as its Chief Justice from September 2013 to February 2014, said there was a “lot of persuasion” from Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and added, “I think now almost everything we cleared except one or two names. I hope the government will clear those names also”.
