Local media boycotts DK Shivakumar’s presser for coming late

DK Shivakumar, the head of the Karnataka Congress, appeared to have upset the local media after arriving allegedly late for a news conference in Bengaluru earlier in the day. Due to a technical issue with his chopper, DK Shivakumar reportedly arrived at the news conference an hour late.

The reporters who were there opted not to cover the news conference because they were annoyed by the delay.

The head of the Karnataka Congress declared that nothing could be on time following the uproar and media boycott by local outlets. “Everything cannot be on time if you all have a watch. I know when to call a press conference and when to call an emergency one and when you will come. Don’t try to blackmail me,” the senior Congress leader said.

Later, Shivakumar requested the names of the reporters from his media coordinator and stated he would contact their management.

Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT cell, criticised DK Shivakumar in the meantime and said that the Congress candidate for chief minister was openly threatening reporters in Bengaluru.

“DK Shivkumar, Congress Chief Minister hopeful, openly threatened reporters in Bengaluru, who boycotted his press, for repeatedly turning up late. DKS must realise, not all journalists are Claridges kinds, who sell their soul for some food and wine. Lot of them still have a spine,” Malviya said.

This happened a few days after another helicopter-related event in the Dakshina Kannada district. The private helicopter that Congress state president D K Shivakumar’s family used to travel from Bengaluru to Dharmasthala was searched by Election Commission officials.
