LPG cylinder price hike: Domestic gas gets expensive by Rs 50

The price of Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder has been increased by Rs 50. With the latest revision, domestic LPG cylinders will retail at Rs 999.50 in Delhi. This comes as another jolt to common people who are already suffering due to high prices of petrol and diesel in the country.

It is worth noting that on May 1, the government oil companies had also increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders. Commercial LPG cylinder became costlier by Rs 102.50. After the implementation of the new price, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder in Delhi increased from Rs 2253 to Rs 2355.50 from May 1.

Notably, the price of domestic LPG was earlier increased by Rs 50 per cylinder on March 22, after which the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi, which was subsidized, reached Rs 949.50.

The recent price hike in petrol and petroleum products is due to a sharp increase in global energy prices as a result of the Russia-Ukraine situation that has led to supply worries.

The prices of domestic cooking gas vary from one state to another due to local taxes. The fuel retailers revise the prices of LPG cylinders at the beginning of every month.
