Maharashtra: CM Thackeray visits Raigad post flood

Maharashtra: On Saturday, the state government 24 July, said that 76 people lost their life, while 38 have been injured and 30 people have gone missing in floods that attacked parts of Maharashtra, PTI reported.

The ani reported, however, giving a conflicting figure, the state’s Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar had earlier said that 136 people had died due to incessant downpour, flooding, and landslides in the state till the evening of Friday, 23 July.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also visited Mahad in Raigad on Saturday.

The Chief Minister said that full compensation will be given to those who were affected by the floods. He added that efforts will be made to avoid loss of life in such incidents in future.

“Compensation will be given to all those who have suffered losses due to floods. We will try that no lives are lost in such incidents in the future”, the CM said.

76 people and 75 animals expired due to floods. A total of 38 people were injured and 30 people are missing. 90,000 people have been evacuated from the flood-hit areas according to the Relief and Rehabilitation Department
