Maharashtra Government Eases Covid Curbs, Read Advisory

New corona protocols will come into force in Maharashtra from August 15. The Maharashtra government has further relaxed the restrictions imposed in May due to the second wave of Covid-19. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that Mumbai local train services will be available for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from Sunday. Those who have received the second dose of the vaccine at least fifteen days back will be able to travel in Mumbai local trains.

According to the new rule, those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will have to obtain their train passes. They will be able to access it from smartphones, ward offices and suburban railway stations. CM Uddhav Thackeray said, “Passengers can download train passes through mobile appThose who do not have a smartphone can collect photo passes from municipal ward offices in the city as well as from suburban railway stations.”

The Maharashtra government has informed that those who have received both the doses of the vaccine will be allowed to enter shopping malls in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that people will have to check the Covid-19 vaccination certificates before allowing them to enter the mall. He said, “There should be guards in the mall. It is the responsibility of the mall owner. The guards need to check the certificates of the visitors.”

Restaurants can operate at 50% capacity till 10 pm with new terms and conditions. In these, it will be mandatory to wear a face mask even while waiting in the restaurant. Hotel staff including managers, waiters, cooks, sweepers, bartenders must wear face masks at all times and receive both doses of the COVID vaccine.

Any restaurant/bar will be allowed to operate till 10 PM subject to the above conditions. The last food order should be taken no later than 9 pm. However parcel services are allowed to operate 24*7 every day.

Shops can also remain open till 10 pm, provided all employees, including managers, sanitation workers, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 14 days have elapsed since the second dose of the vaccine.

A maximum of 200 guests will be allowed for wedding ceremonies if the ceremony is taking place in the open. For indoor venues, guests will be allowed up to 50% of the capacity. Video recording of such gatherings will be mandatory and should be made available to the Competent Authority on demand to verify compliance with the COVID Appropriate Practices. Those who break the rules will be punished and the license of the said premises will be cancelled.

Gyms, yoga centres, salons, parlors and spas will be allowed to operate with 50% capacity daily till 10.00 pm. If the premises are air conditioned, fans should be turned on and windows and doors should be kept open. All employees, including managers, cleaning staff, must have a valid vaccination certificate of receiving both doses. 14 days must have passed since the second shot.
