Mahashivratri 2026: Lord Shiva devotees across the country are preparing to celebrate the most special day of the year. Mahashivratri 2026 would be celebrated today (February 15, 2026). This year, Lord Shiva’s divine day would be turned more auspicious by the rare Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, amplifying the power of prayers and rituals.

The Eternal Significance Of Mahashivratri 2026

Mahashivratri, the “Great Night of Shiva,” marks the cosmic wedding of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. The wedding symbolizes the union of Prakriti (nature) and Purusha (consciousness). Celebrated on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun, Mahashivratri also commemorates the Tandava dance of Lord Shiva.

Spiritually, Mahashivratri is a night for overcoming ignorance, ego and worldly attachments and is ideal for meditation, jagran (night vigil) and fasting.

Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga

Shubh Muhurat Times For Mahashivratri 2026

The Chaturdashi date would start from February 15 at 5:04 pm and end on 5:34 pm on February 16.

Powerful Mantras To Invoke Bholenath’s Grace

Chanting the mantras of Lord Shiva during Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is believed to multiply their potency by 100 times. Ideally, you should start with the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra for health and protection:

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam

Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat

The mantra should be recited 108 times at Nishita Kaal (third prahar). Day-long fasting should start at sunrise on February 15 (6:50-7:10am). The timeless Shiva Aarti should be played or sung amid incense and diyas.

If you want to fast on this revered day, you can fast on milk, fruits and thandai (minus bhang for purity and complete devotion). You can donate sesame seeds, apply vibhuti and wear rudraksha.
