Makar Sankranti: India’s Railways department has announced the launch of 150 special trains to effectively manage big rush during the Makar Sankranti festival.
South Central Railways’s Chief Executive Officer A. Sridhar remarked that several special trains would get started to help individuals and families enjoy good times.
As the New Year begins, the Makar Sankranti festival is also approaching. Indian Railways has completed all preparations for it. On this occasion, South Central Railway has announced the operation of 150 special trains.
Indian Railways-Special Trains to Tirupati and Shirdi
Sridhar added that arrangements have made by South Central Railways for trains to the eastern, southern and northern parts of the country. The South Central Railways CEO added special trains would be introduced to connect Telugu states to Shirdi and Tirupati.
He further added that about 600 or more trains are presently being run for the benefit of commuters during the festival season. Sridhar added that South Central Railways’ special trains would also be linked to some of Maharashtra’s major railway stations.
Heavy Crowds Expected
Sridhar said heavy crowds are expected during the Makar Sankranti festival at the Secunderabad railway station. Moreover, reconstruction work is presently underway at the same railway station that may cause some inconvenience to passengers. He further remarked that Railway has decided to divert some important trains from Secunderabad to Kacheguda, Charlapalli and Lingampalli while also shifting some trains to other stations.
