Mangaluru blast : ED raids five locations in Karnataka

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday raided five places in connection with the Mangaluru cooker bomb blast case. Apart from this, raids were also conducted in the building of ED’s Congress office. At the same time, the Shivamogga house of Shariq, the main suspect in the blast, was also searched.

Simultaneously, Shariq’s family is also being searched. The money laundering case by the ED is based on an FIR by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

ED officials said that raids were conducted at 5 places

Giving information in this regard, ED officials said that raids were conducted at 5 places to collect documents and evidence for the case filed under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. At the same time, raids were also conducted in a building in Mangaluru. The Congress office is also located in the building where the raid was conducted.

Though sources in the probe agency claimed that the ED carried out searches at an office in the building, but no raids were conducted at the premises of any political party. Sources have also claimed that searches have been conducted at several other places in the state as well.

Bomb exploded in an autorickshaw on the outskirts of Mangaluru

On November 19 last year, a bomb exploded in an autorickshaw on the outskirts of Mangaluru. In this whole case, Mohammad Shariq, who was driving a three-wheeler, has been made the main accused. Although he was also badly injured in this blast. According to the information, he had 40 percent burns.

According to the police, Shariq and his accomplices were allegedly inspired by the terrorist organization Islamic State. The two were in touch through the Telegram messaging application. The police had also said that his handlers sitting outside India had guided him in making the bomb. Many documents were also sent to him for this.
