Manipur violence: Authorities lifted curfew in violence-hit Churachandpur district of Manipur for three hours on Sunday morning to allow people to buy essential items. Violence broke out during a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ and the state government suspended internet for five days to tackle the worsening law and order situation in the state. The Army and Assam Riffle personnel were deployed in several affected districts in Manipur.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said in a notification that the curfew in violence-hit Churachandpur district of the state will be partially relaxed for three hours on Sunday morning to allow people to buy essential items such as medicines and food. The curfew imposed under section 144 of the CrPC will be lifted from 7 am to 10 am, the notification said.
