In an alleged mob lynching event in the village of Ukhlad in Mahrashtra's Parbhani district, a boy died after being beaten by a group of people. On Saturday, a crowd attacked the dead and two other Sikh lads on the basis of theft suspect. The lads were believed to have stolen goats by the crowd.
One of the lads passed away from his wounds while receiving medical attention at a hospital.
The police have reportedly filed a case against nine persons in the alleged mob lynching event, according to Ragasudha R, the Parbhani SP. The police arrested four of the accused.
In a related incidence, a 56-year-old man was allegedly lynched in Bihar's Saran district in March of this year on the grounds that he was carrying meat.
Naseem Quereshi, the victim, lived in Hasanpur village in the Siwan district.
According to news agency PTI, the event happened on March 10 when Naseem and his nephew Firoz Qureshi were on their way to meet up with family in Jogia village, Saran district. A mob allegedly stopped the pair in Jogia village because they were thought to be carrying beef in a bag.
While Naseem was allegedly beaten up by the mob and eventually turned over to the local police, Firoz was able to flee. He was sent to the hospital right away for treatment, but the police later stated that he died.
