A church has been vandalized in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Narayanpur district. The Superintendent of Police was seriously injured in the agitation by the tribals. The injured officer is Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, who was seen clutching his head as blood gushed from his face. He has been admitted to a hospital. A large number of policemen have been deployed following the violent protests.
Giving more information about the incident, the police officer of Narayanpur district said that there was a clash between two communities in Gorra village of Edka police station area of the district on Sunday. Against which the tribals protested on Monday. Just a day before the new year, two communities came face to face. After this there was a lot of ruckus. Many people were injured in the fight.

Speaking to the media at the hospital, Narayanpur District Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar said, “On Monday afternoon, when the protesters reached near Vishwa Deepti Christian School, they tried to move towards a church located in the school premises. When I came to know about this, I reached there along with other officers and tried to pacify the agitators. He had also calmed down and was about to return. But suddenly someone hit me on the head from behind with a stick, due to which I got injured.”
Clash between two communities over conversion
According to preliminary reports, a meeting was called by a tribal group to protest against the clash between two communities over alleged religious conversions at Edka village in Narayanpur district on Sunday. It soon turned into a major brawl between the two opposing groups. Chairs, stones were thrown all around and people started fighting. Soon it turned into a fight. The police officer said that later the situation was brought under control by dispersing the crowd. In the video from the spot, the protesters can be seen vandalizing the church located in the school premises.
