Monsoon to reach Kerala around June 4, predicts IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the arrival of monsoon in India. According to IMD, monsoon will reach Kerala around June 4. IMD also said that there is no possibility of monsoon reaching Kerala before June 1.

Monsoon to arrive Kerala around June 4

According to ANI, IMD said, “Once the monsoon will get established strong, we are expecting the monsoon to arrive in Kerala around 4th June. Before 1st June, we are not expecting monsoon to arrive. Monsoon most likely to be normal this year ."

IMD added, “There is no cyclone probability in the Arabian sea for next week. If rainfall distribution is almost similar everywhere, then it will be an ideal situation. There won't be any problem. If we get equal distribution everywhere, there won't be much impact on agriculture. In northwest India, as of now, below-normal rainfall will be there."

Rain or thunderstorm at Kerala, Lakshadweep

However, the IMD has forecast rain or thunderstorms at many places over Kerala and at a few places in Lakshadweep till May 29. IMD said, “Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-45 gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast."

Regarding Thiruvananthapuram, IMD said that it will be cloudy with one or two spells of rain and thunder. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 33°C.
