Morbi Bridge Collapse: Gujarat To Give Additional Compensation Families Victims

The Gujarat government will provide additional financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those who died in the Morbi bridge accident. The state government has given information in this regard in an affidavit filed before the High Court on Monday. The state government has said in its affidavit that a total compensation of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased who lost their lives in the bridge collapse incident. Along with this, those who are injured in this accident will be given a grant of one lakh rupees. Morbi Municipality and the State Government have filed affidavits before the High Court.

At the same time, the Supreme Court had said that the incident of Morbi Bridge was a ‘colossal tragedy’. After this, the state government said that additional compensation would be given to the families of each of the deceased. The state government said in an affidavit filed before the High Court on Monday that it would pay a total compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased.

What is in the affidavit of the state government

The state government has said in its affidavit that a total compensation of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased in the bridge collapse incident. While the injured will be given a grant of one lakh rupees. The Morbi Municipality and the State Government filed this affidavit before the High Court.

In view of the seriousness of the Morbi incident, the Gujarat High Court had taken suo moto cognizance of the accident on November 7 and issued notices to the officials including the Home Department and sought a report within a week. High Court ordered, ‘We expect strict action from the state government’.
