Prostitution: Mumbai Police arrested Bhojpuri actor Suman Kumari for forcing aspiring models into prostitution. Police arrested Suman Kumari in a raid on the Royal Palm Hotel where models were being supplied for prostitution.
The actor is part of a high-profile sex racket, police said. According to the police, their social services branch carried out the operation, and arrested Suman Kumari in a raid.
Police trap Suman Kumari
Reports said the police had received information about a sex racket operating in Royal Palm Hotel in the Aarey Colony area. Police sent a fake customer with name Suman Kumari to the hotel to trap the perpetrators. The actor , who shares the same name, fell for the trap and made a deal with the fake customer. As she was negotiating a price of Rs 50,000 – 80,000 rupees for every model, police arrested her.
Suman Kumari is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the sex racket. Expressing concern over the growing trend of such high-profile sex rackets, police urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities immediately.
Exploiting struggling actors
According to the police, 24-year old Suman Kumari is a Bhojpuri actor who supplies models to customers. These models came to Mumbai to make a career in films and were struggling. Suman Kumari contacted them and lured them into prostitution.
Suman Kumari has worked in many Bhojpuri films including Laila Majnu. She has also done Bhojpuri comedy shows like Bap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri besides working on Boom OTT channel.
Police said she has been living in Mumbai for the past six years. It was not clear as to when got invoved in sex racket.
