Mumbai to start unlocking from June 7, know what’s allowed, what’s not

Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government issued an order and said that the lockdown will be relaxed from Monday based on the COVID-19 positivity rate in the state and the availability of oxygen beds. And this new order will be implemented from Monday, June 7. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) also shared a 5-tier plan made by the state government to lift restrictions in districts and cities where the positivity rate has declined.

The order states that for lifting the lockdown “there will be five levels of restrictions for different classes/categories of activities. The order states that these levels of restrictions will be implemented on the basis of two parameters. First-case positivity rate and second-percentage of oxygen bed occupancy.

As per the government’s 5-tier plan, ‘Level 1’ districts and cities will have minimum restrictions, while ‘Level 5’ areas will continue with lockdown-like restrictions.

In Level 1 districts, all shops, malls and PVRs can resume their operations. Along with this, malls and theaters can operate at 50 per capacity in Level 2 areas. Mumbai comes in Level 2, so shopping malls-theaters here will open according to the given guidelines. At the same time, in Level 3, shops dealing with essential commodities can open till 4 pm, while those selling non-essential items have been allowed till 4 pm on weekdays. Malls, theaters will remain closed in Level 3 districts.
