Narendra Singh Tomar asks farmers to resume talks over three farm laws

Protest Against Three Farm Law: During the Monsoon session of Parliament, farmers’ protest against the three agricultural laws of the Center has started. In view of this, security has been tightened at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi. Jantar Mantar is only a few meters away from the Parliament House. On the other hand, in the presence of Rahul Gandhi, Congress MPs have demonstrated in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament premises.

Tight security arrangements have been made at Jantar Mantar. Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed. A group of 200 farmers with police protection have reached Jantar Mantar from Singhu border in buses. This is the first time since the violence that broke out in the national capital during a tractor parade on January 26 this year, that the authorities have allowed protesting farmers to enter the city.

This protest of theirs will go on till 9 August. Due to the protest of the farmers, a large number of policemen have been deployed. The farmers have been allowed by the Delhi Police to protest with the condition that their number will not exceed 200.

The monsoon session of Parliament began on Monday and will end on August 13. The three agriculture laws introduced in September last year are being described as a major reform in the agriculture sector and claim that it will eliminate middlemen and farmers will be able to sell their crops anywhere in the country. These laws are- first, the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, second- Agriculture (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Bill, 2020 and third, the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Meanwhile Narendra Singh Tomar appeals farmers to resume talks over farm laws.

“We have held 11th round of talks with the farmers’ union, now they have to decide what path they choose to take,” Narendra Singh Tomar said.
