Man in a Shop Wipes Watermelon with the National Flag, Police in Jhansi orders probe

National Flag: Another unexpected sighting involved a man cleaning fruits at his shop with the Indian national flag. The incident allegedly occurred in Jhansi, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. After a video went popular on social media, the police have now opened an inquiry. The issue gained attention after a fictitious video of the incident, allegedly taken by locals, was posted on social media.

What's in the video?

The person may be seen in the video dusting watermelons with the flag. Although it has come to light before, this incidence of disdain for the tricolour is not new. When a video of a 52-year-old guy using the national flag to clean his two-wheeler went viral on social media, Delhi Police detained him.

National Flag : FIR has been issued

The case was registered at the Bhajanpura police station under section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971, according to a senior police officer. The Delhi police filed a FIR against the offender in September of last year.

"The suspect has been invited to participate in the inquiry. He said that he made the error and that it wasn't intentional. He is still required to participate in the investigation and appear in court when required, "the policeman stated.
