Nawada Mob Lynching: Days after being brutally assault in the Roh police station area, Mohammad Athar Hussain has succumbed to injuries. Hussain became the victim of an alleged mob lynching in Nawada district of Bihar.
The incident has sparked widespread anger while renewing serious concerns over vigilante violence. The Muslim man was undergoing treatment at Biharsharif Sadar Hospital. His wife Shabnam Praveen alleged Hussain was killed purely because of his religion by a group of drunken men.
Dying Declaration Of Nawada Mob Lynching Victim
In a dying declaration that was recorded by a Navbharat Times reporter, Hussain said a group of 4-5 men forced him to stop and made him reveal his religious identity before beating him with iron rods. He also said they opened his pants and poured petrol over his body to burn him while also using pliers to crush his ears, fingers and feet. Hussain added they used bricks to beat him before someone called the police.
Hussain was the sole breadwinner of the family and used to sell clothes in Roh and the nearby areas for around two decades.
Nawada and Mob Lynching Incidents
The Nawada mob lying incident is not an isolated one. In February, two youths were brutally beaten. In August, an elderly couple was attacked over witchcraft allegations.
