NCB Mumbai has seized cocaine worth around Rs 20

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested two African nationals from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. 2.8 kg of cocaine worth Rs 20 crore has been recovered from the accused. Officials gave this information on Monday.

The Mumbai zonal unit of NCB laid a trap at the airport on Sunday and nabbed the South African woman, officials said. The woman had come from Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).

During the search, the team recovered 2.8 kg of the drug in eight packets of different sizes, which were concealed in holes made in two pairs of shoes and purses, he said. Its cost is said to be Rs 20 crore.

On questioning, the woman, identified as Miranda S, disclosed that she had to deliver a consignment to a person at a hotel in suburban Andheri west, the official said.

She further informed that the cocaine was sourced from South Africa. The seizure of this consignment is a major achievement as the local drug smuggling syndicates want to supply drugs to Mumbai, Goa and surrounding areas during the upcoming festive season.
