Netaji birth anniversary

Netaji birth anniversary: The country is celebrating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday today, January 23. While Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has planned grand celebration for the day, his daughter Anita Bose-Pfaff has said slammed the right wing saying her father’s ideology to that of RSS is poles apart. She went on to add that Congress has more in common with Netaji's idea of secularism than BJP.

Netaji's daughter slams RSS

Ahead of Netaji’s birth anniversary,  Anita Bose-Pfaff, who is his only child, said that RSS’s ideology and nationalist ideas of secularism and inclusiveness are “poles apart and do not coincide”.

She added that BJP and RSS do not reflect the idea of respecting all religion which was preached by Netaji. Despite following Hinduism religiously, he respected everyone's faith, she said.

"RSS and BJP do not necessarily reflect this attitude... If you want to put a simple label, they are rightists, and Netaji was a leftist," she was quoted by PTI.

"From what I hear about the RSS ideology, I would agree that it and Netaji's ideology are poles apart. The two value systems do not coincide. It will certainly be good if the RSS felt it wanted to embrace Netaji's ideals and ideas. Many different groups want to celebrate Netaji's birthday in different ways, and a number of them necessarily agree with his ideas," Bose-Pfaff said.

Netaji was a religious person

Anita Bose Pfaff said Netaji was a religious person and wanted India to be a country where all religions would live together with mutual respect.

"However, he wanted free India to be a secular state where members of all religions would live together peacefully and with mutual respect," she said.

"He was a politician inspired by socialism who envisioned India to become a modern, socialist – or in today's terms social-democratic state, with equal opportunities for the wellbeing of all," she noted.
