IC 814 Controversy: The series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which debuted on Netflix recently, has raised a lot of worries. Netflix is a subscription-based streaming service. The series IC814 has been in the news for a variety of reasons on social media, TV and newspapers. In the middle of all these talks, the central government called Netflix’s chief of content today and delivered a stern reprimand.
The government made it clear that “No one has the right to play with the emotions of the people of this country. You should think carefully before presenting any matter in the wrong way.” Following the government’s reprimand, Netflix’s content head has issued a clarification. Netflix has assured the government that “The content of the IC814 series will be reviewed, and all future content will be sensitive to and in alignment with the country’s sentiments.”
Netflix Responds to the Government
Today, Netflix responded to the government’s concerns. Regarding the questions raised over the content of the IC814 series, Netflix’s content head stated that the series will soon be reviewed. Netflix has also assured the government that, going forward, all content on their platform will be sensitive to the emotions of the country and will be aligned with its cultural values.
Government’s Strong Reprimand
Amid the ongoing debate over the IC814 series, the central government summoned Netflix’s content head. During this meeting, the government strongly reprimanded Netflix.
The government made it clear that “No one has the right to play with the emotions of the people of this country. The culture and civilization of India must always be respected, and any content that misrepresents facts should be thoroughly considered beforehand. The government is taking this matter very seriously.”
Netflix has agreed to review the controversial series and ensure that future content will be respectful of Indian sentiments.
