New Delhi: 3 Nigerians detained for overstaying, large mob attacks Delhi cops in retaliation

New Delhi: On Saturday, over 100 individuals of African descent encircled a police squad in the Neb Sarai neighbourhood of South Delhi, engaged in combat with them, and released Nigerian nationals who had been imprisoned by the anti-drugs unit due to their visas expiring. To the police station the detainees were being transported.

Nigerian individuals taken up by a Narcotics Cell team

Three Nigerian individuals with expired visas were taken up by a Narcotics Cell team at Raju Park in Neb Sarai at 2:30 pm as part of deportation proceedings for foreign nationals who had overstayed their visas.

Over 100 persons of African descent surrounded them at the same time and interfered with the police operation. During the commotion, two of the three people being held made it out safely, but the police were able to apprehend one of them—Philip, 22—again.

At 6:30 p.m., a joint team from the Neb Sarai Police Station and the Narcotics Squad returned to Raju Park and took four Nigerians into custody, including a woman.

150 to 200 people attempted to assist the captives in escaping

In retaliation, 150 to 200 people of African descent reportedly approached the police squad once more and attempted to assist the captives in escaping. The criminals were taken to the Neb Sarai Police Station, where the process for their deportation is in progress, after the police miraculously managed to contain the rapidly worsening situation.
