Yashwant Varma: A massive controversy has erupted over allegations involving burnt cash allegedly found at the residence of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma. The case has sparked national debate, drawing the attention of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, who is closely monitoring the situation. Now, Justice Yashwant Varma has finally broken his silence, vehemently denying the allegations against him.

Yashwant Varma Denies Burnt Cash Allegations, Calls It a Conspiracy

According to an NDTV report, Justice Yashwant Varma has strongly refuted all claims linking him to the burnt cash case. Expressing shock over the accusations, the Delhi High Court judge stated:

"I was totally shocked to see the contents of the video since that depicted something which was not found on site as I had seen it. It was this which prompted me to observe that this clearly appeared to be a conspiracy to frame and malign me."

He further elaborated on the location in question, asserting that the room allegedly containing burnt cash was merely a storage space used by multiple individuals for old furniture, bottles, crockery, carpets, and other miscellaneous items.

"This room is unlocked and accessible both from the official front gate as well as the backdoor of the staff quarters. It is disconnected from the main residence and is surely not a room in my house as has been portrayed."

‘None of It Appears to Have Been Seized,’ Says Yashwant Varma

Justice Yashwant Varma further raised doubts over the authenticity of the viral video, stating, "That takes me to the video clip which has been shared with me. Assuming without admitting that the video was taken immediately at the time of the incident at the site, none of it appears to have been recovered or seized. The second aspect which I need to underscore is that none of the staff was shown any remnants of cash or currency that may have been present on site."

CJI Sanjiv Khanna Forms Committee to Investigate Allegations Against Yashwant Varma

Amid the controversy, CJI Sanjiv Khanna has taken swift action by forming a high-level three-member committee to probe the burnt cash allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma. The members of this investigative panel include:

  • Justice Sheel Nagu (Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court)
  • Justice G.S. Sandhawalia (Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court)
  • Justice Anu Sivaraman (Judge of Karnataka High Court)

In addition to the probe, Justice Yashwant Varma has been temporarily barred from performing any judicial duties until further notice.

With the controversy intensifying, all eyes are now on the investigation led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna. The inquiry committee is expected to unearth critical details about the burnt cash allegations, bringing clarity to whether Yashwant Varma was falsely accused or if deeper irregularities are involved.
