Noida News: Residential electricity consumers of Gautam Budh Nagar would now be eligible to avail financial incentives of up to ₹1.08 lakh. This would be to encourage them to install rooftop solar panels under the “Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.”
District officials said beneficiaries would be eligible to receive direct benefit transfers (DBT) from the Centre as well the state government.
How will residents benefit from this Noida News?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, subsidy of ₹30,000 for systems up to 1 kilowatt (kW) from the Centre while systems of up to 2kW attract ₹60,000 could be availed by households installing rooftops. For systems with a capacity of 3kW or more, the maximum Central subsidy has been capped at ₹78,000.
Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh government will give an additional incentive of ₹15,000 per kW for domestic consumers, up to a maximum capacity of 2kW. This translates into an additional subsidy of up to ₹30,000 from the state government. Eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of up to ₹1.08 lakh when both components are combined.
The scheme intends to promote affordable and clean energy to consumers while minimizing their electricity bills by power generation via rooftop solar panels. The initiative will also support environmental conservation and energy self-reliance at the household level.
In-charge project officer of the New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (NEDA), Lavesh Kumar Sisodia, said the objective of the scheme is to make households energy self-reliant by encouraging the use of clean and renewable energy. Sisodia added surplus power generated through rooftop systems can also be supplied to the grid, allowing consumers to earn additional financial benefits, apart from reducing monthly electricity bills.
The entire application process has been kept online to ensure ease and transparency for applicants. Interested residents can apply on www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The state subsidy will be released as per the prescribed procedure.
To be eligible, applications must be Indian citizens, have a valid domestic electricity connection and own a residential house in Gautam Budh Nagar with suitable rooftop space.
The scheme, officials said, is intended exclusively for residential consumers.
